Pure dried kelp is an excellent source of vitamins, minerals and trace elements for horses. Seaweed was traditionally fed to improve hoof and coat condition, and is now fed as an economic and totally natural source of vitamins and minerals. Seaweed is a natural source of Algin, a fibre molecule which is thought to help flush damaging heavy metals out of the body. Algin also has anti-oxidant properties to help support a healthy immune system.
Straight Forward Seaweed is superior quality, the same grade is used to produce capsules and cosmetics for humans. The seaweed is harvested from plants submerged in the sea on the Norway coast, where it has received organic certification. This method of harvesting ensures that the plant is healthy and good quality, with a high nutrient value. It is quickly dried at a low temperature to ensure preservation of nutrients, and ground into smooth granules to produce a dust free supplement for horses.
Seaweed is not recommended for pregnant mares due to its naturally high iodine content.
