Electrolyte Replacement Therapy
A comprehensive liquid electrolyte with a sweet, syrup base for mixing with feed. Replenishes electrolytes lost through heavy sweating and helps prevent muscle fatigue.
Sweating results in water loss as well as sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium and calcium. Significant sweating, such as after racing or travelling in hot weather results in a considerable loss of these important electrolytes. Providing only water to the horse will result in dilution of the remaining blood salts, making the need for electrolytes even greater. Important enzymes such as creatine kinase will be lost from the muscles as a result of damage caused by loss of electrolytes and dehydration. Creatine Kinase found in the blood circulation is one of the early indicators of azoturia.
ProLyte Plus (Syrup) is a palatable syrup formulation which mixes easily with feed and is ideal for horses who dislike salts in their water. As well as the key electrolytes the formula also boasts B group vitamins and iron, essential for optimum performance.
