We are now well into winter feeding , and for many it is a stark reminder of the wet summer we have had. Maize is looking like being of poor quality and of very low feed value; many rations are being reformulated to address the shortfalls that may be found in the diet this year. We would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
Please read on for details of our suggestions for this month coming....
Easi-Life Tub is an ideal protein bucket to be fed to in-lamb ewes in mid to late pregnancy. The high trace element levels will be absorbed by the ewe and passed onto the newborn lamb. The 14% all-natural protein base will encourage milk production with colostrum quality also being improved through a better balance of diet. Omega 3 oils are included to add the benefits of fish oil in the diet, with Live Yeast to improve forage digestion and rumen output.
The primary cause of acidosis is feeding a high level of rapidly digestible carbohydrate, such as barley and other cereals, which are likely to make up a high proportion of cattle diets this year. It is particularly bruised grain that can cause a problem as this ferments more rapidly in the rumen than whole grain. To help reduce the risk of this debilitating metabolic disease, the correct forage / concentrate ratio must be provided. Another aid to the reduction of incidence is to use Tub Crina. Tub Crina contains a rumen specific live yeast that will help to improve fibre digestibility, Crina to improve rumen function and to help stabilise the pH, and Myco-Binder to bind any mycotoxins that may be present in the diet (will be particularly useful if harvesting conditions were less than ideal). This tub is a fantastic performance enhancer.
This year’s silage is likely to be disappointing. To ensure that next year you are prepared for whatever conditions we may experience, treat your silage with a market leading additive. Place your order now, and pay for it in May 2009 and as a thank-you we will give you a bottle of Isle of Arran Malt Whisky for every 250 tonnes treated to enjoy this Christmas (Conditions apply). Call the mineral clinic to ask about the Biophage preservatives.
Are your cattle drinking urine, or licking the walls or each other? This is a sure sign that all is not well with the cows digestion. Tub AUD (anti-urine drinking) helps to restore normal pH and encourages saliva production to optimise rumen fermentation activity. The addition of a rumen specific live yeast also plays a part in improving forage digestion.
